LIPS© Chocolate will help improve the lives of those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) by fundraising and working to increase understanding between people of different sexual orientations and beliefs. We encourage the adoption of LGBTQ-inclusive policies and practices in business and community. LIPS© Chocolate envisions a world where LGBTQ people are ensured of their basic equal rights, and can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community.

Cacao Agricultural Community Focus: Dominican Republic & Costa Rica
Many of the world's top chocolate companies are using more certified "sustainable cocoa", but farmers still may not be seeing the benefits. How much of a difference this sustainable sourcing make in the lives of cocoa farmers? One of these companies, which had revenues over $6 billion last year, would not say how much of its profits have trickled down to suppliers, nor will it say how much business it does with each of its three nonprofit certifiers: Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance and UTZ Certified.
Certification alone hasn’t proven sufficient to lift the incomes of cocoa farmers, who are still poor, according to Han De Groot, executive director of UTZ Certified, a nonprofit based in Amsterdam. If farmer incomes don’t rise, there’s a very real risk that the next generation of farmers will give up on the business. Even with the highest premium paid for certified cocoa, farmers are way deep in poverty.
The 10 % of the LIPS profits will be donated to the communities of the Cacao Farmers in Dominican Republic and Costa Rica to improve their lives by ensuring that their communities reap the benefits of their labor bringing the world for this sacred, medicinal crop.
